Fedcap’s ‘Festival of Employability’ helps over 170 people progress towards work

Over 170 jobseekers in Slough have received an employment boost after securing job interviews through Fedcap’s Festival of Employability.  

Not-for-profit organisation Fedcap specialises in employment support for unemployed people in Slough. To date we’ve helped over 1,000 people in the town into sustainable jobs. 

The then Mayor of Slough, Councillor Amjad Abbasi, opened the Festival of Employability, a five-day event to help people who are currently out of work to pick up the skills they need for the modern workforce and match them with job and interview opportunities that are tailored to meet their needs. 

The event offered support for people at all stages of their employment journey with everything from workshops to updating CVs and tackling health concerns. For those further away from the job market, they were connected to support groups and skills providers, such as NHS Talking Therapies and Functional Skills. 

 Over the course of the week, 173 people had a job interview with 42 immediately progressing to the next stage with some of the region’s leading employers, including Starfyn, Class 1 Personnel, Marriott Hotel, Contract Options, Home Instead, Functional Skills, Teaching Personnel and RGIS.  

Councillor Abbasi, said: “It was fantastic to visit Fedcap and great to connect with an organisation dedicated to helping people in the community and delivering social impact. I was really impressed with the variety of support available throughout the festival. I met customers who have changed their lives through finding work and improving their wellbeing.”
