Background
Here at Fedcap, we show respect by putting processes in place to support our people regardless of their protective characteristics. Earlier this year, our Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) network received feedback from colleagues honouring the holy month of Ramadan that they would like a peaceful area to reflect and support them during their period of fasting. Working alongside our ‘WeListen’ reps, the EDI team came together to provide them with a safe space to practice their faith.
Our activity
We implemented a reflection room in our Slough office to provide a peaceful private area for our people and customers to take time to pray and reflect during the working day.
Our impact
“The reflection room has been a great addition to the Fedcap office, and it has been a long time coming. I use it to pray and unwind during busy days, when I need some time away from the office. It has been particularly helpful during Ramadan, and I am very appreciative of this. I have also used it during my lunch breaks whilst fasting to help me self-reflect and relax.
“I think the reflection room has been very popular with our customer base, given the level of diversity in our community. It was nice seeing the attention to the detail in the room, for example the prayer mat and the privacy curtain. This shows a lot of thought and consideration was put in to making this happen. I want to give a shout out to Taslima Begum, who helped make this happen and she was also very proactive with the Ramadan décor throughout the office which a lot of customers and colleagues have pointed out.”
