What is Work and Health Programme - Pioneer?

WHP Pioneer is a new voluntary service to support people back into sustainable employment, funded by the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP). This self-referral employment support service offers a tailored approach and wrap-around training that allows us to work with you individually to support your needs best.

We’ll start by learning all about you – your goals, your talents, and what you’d like help with. Then we’ll support you to find a job that is out there waiting for you.

Our Support

You will be assigned a dedicated adviser to help you during your time on programme, with a range of support services available, including:

Make a great first impression - apply for jobs, create a winning CV and prepare for interview.

Prepare for work

Showcase your skills through work trials and tasters with local employers.

Develop your skills

Access training, vocational and digital qualifications to give you the edge.

Practical support and funding

For things like workwear, interview clothes or travel - so you're not out of pocket.

Work and Health Programme – Pioneer can help you connect with inclusive, local employers from a range of sectors and prepare you to get into work as soon as possible. Our range of support services can help you overcome any barriers you may be facing, and build back your confidence and self-esteem.

Through your time on programme, your dedicated adviser will help you:

  • access training, skills and vocational ​qualifications – including digital skills
  • search and apply for jobs
  • fill in application forms
  • write a CV ​
  • prepare for interviews
  • showcase their skills to employers through work trials ​

- Not be currently in work
- Have a disability or health condition, or
- Have a barrier to getting into work, such as being a carer, refugee or homeless
- Have the right to work in the UK
