What to expect from our Inspiring Futures - Supported Employment and Training Services

Within this 3 minute video, Cheryl from our Inspiring Futures team, will explain what to expect when you join the Inspiring Futures - Supported Employment and Training Services in Reading programme.

The programme is designed for people who are:

  • residents of Reading Borough Council
  • aged 18 to 65 years, who are diagnosed with a learning disability and/or Autism (LDA)
  • looking to get into the work environment straight away
  • not currently in work and not receiving any benefits that require them to look for work, or simply need more support getting back into the workplace

Our Support Services

When the time is right, we'll match you to a suitable role or placement and support you all the way into the workplace.

Dedicated to supporting you

You’ll have a Supported Employment Specialist, dedicated to supporting you throughout your journey back to work

We’ll work at your pace and personalise support for you and your needs

Access to 'hidden' paid & voluntary roles

We'll help you find the right role within the work environment that adapts to your circumstances and supports your health and wellbeing

Reasonable workplace adjustments

We’ll work with your employer to adapt the workplace and your role to accommodate your needs to help you stay in work

In-work support

We’ll keep supporting you in the first weeks and months of your job and continue to work with your employer for as long as required, to support you with this transition into the workplace

Health & wellbeing support

You'll have access to your own personal wellness action plan and a range of resources to help with your heath and wellbeing

What can you expect on your journey with Fedcap?

We understand the difficulties you may face when looking to get into the workplace. You may find it hard to imagine what kind of work you could do or what workplace adjustments you may need. But don’t worry, we’ll get to know you, understand your aspirations and support needs, and will uncover skills and talents you might not realise you have, but are valuable to employers.

You’ll have a dedicated Supported Employment Specialist who’ll work with you to tailor the service to your needs. Once we’ve understood your work preferences, capabilities and requirements we’ll work with employers to help you into the workplace. We’ll aim to find the best role for you, whether this is paid employment, volunteering, training, apprenticeships, internships or work experience.

We’ll provide you with at least eight hours of support per week for up to nine months, helping you with appointments, activities, clubs and various workshops to support you on the journey into the workplace. We’ll keep supporting you in the first weeks and months of your job and work with your employer if any issues arise.

Yes, you can still apply. Register your interest with Reading Borough Council and their team will assess eligibility and discuss with you in further detail if you are eligible for this programme.

If you successfully find a job when on our Inspiring Futures programme, we’ll work with your employer to adapt the workplace and your role to accommodate your needs to help you stay in work.

We’ll continue to support you as your start your role, working hand-in-hand with your employer to help you settle into your new career. Most importantly, we want to ensure that you find your new role enjoyable and rewarding because that’s essential to your long-term health and happiness.
