Skelmersdale jobseekers get support to Restart careers
05/08/2022
Jobseekers in Skelmersdale are being helped to return to the workplace through a service designed to help the country recover from the coronavirus pandemic.
We’re delivering the UK Government’s Restart Scheme in the town on behalf of G4S. Since its launch last year, the UK Government’s Restart Scheme has supported a quarter of a million longer-term unemployed people to build the confidence and skills they need to re-enter the workplace. The UK Government understands that returning to work can be more difficult after an extended period of unemployment, which is why its Restart Scheme is providing jobseekers everywhere with a year of intensive, tailored support.
Our new office at the Approach was officially opened by West Lancashire MP Rosie Cooper on Friday 29 July.
During the opening event, attendees were given an insight into the Restart Scheme, which helps people who have been out of work with tailored support to pick up skills for the modern workplace and find suitable, sustainable jobs.
Our frontline team are on hand to help with everything from updating CVs to boosting confidence, and from impressing at interviews to supporting with budgeting and managing debt.
The team are also working with some of the region’s leading employers to help the region bounce back from the coronavirus pandemic with reliable workers.
West Lancashire MP Rosie Cooper said: “It was a pleasure to officially open the new Fedcap Employment office in Skelmersdale. With the new town centre in place and improving industrial estates, Skelmersdale is on its way to really being ‘world class for business’ like the sign says.
“That means there are more local jobs available and I hope that the Fedcap Employment office can become a valuable community resource to support Skelmersdale residents to restart their careers and get the best job they can.”
Susan Paterson, Operations Director at Fedcap Employment, said: “We’re not about quick fixes or revolving doors; we’re here to make a lasting difference to people’s lives – and we’re already seeing the positive impact that’s having on Skelmersdale. It’s great to see people get the skills, confidence and experience they need to take their careers to the next level.”
