Justyna’s Journey: From Restart to a Rewarding New Role
10/02/2025

Justyna, a dedicated mother-of-three from Slough had been working as a self-employed cleaner since 2017, but due to rheumatoid arthritis had to give this up last year. Justyna joined the Restart Scheme to gain the skills and support needed to pursue her dream of working with children. However, she was initially concerned about finding a job that would fit around her childcare needs and was close to home. Through the Restart Scheme, Justyna attended Confidence Building and Interview Preparation workshops. With her adviser’s guidance, she developed an impressive CV that highlighted her skills and made her stand out to potential employers.
When a role as a Special Educational Needs (SEN) Teaching Assistant with Starfyn became available, her adviser was certain she would excel. To support her application, Fedcap covered the cost of her DBS check, ensuring she was eligible for the position.
Thanks to her hard work and determination, Justyna was offered the job! She is thrilled to start her new role at the end of January and is already planning to gain additional qualifications to achieve her long-term ambitions.
