A Berkshire man has progressed towards a career in project management after identifying exactly what needed to happen to kickstart his new life – exactly like a project manager.
Stewart*, 27, had his career mapped out after obtaining his degree but struggled to find work. But his fortunes changed after being referred to our Job Entry Targeted Support (JETS) programme, where he was supported to realise his dreams.

Why Stewart joined the JETS programme Stewart holds a good degree as well as a master’s qualification in project management. Although a proactive jobseeker, he struggled to find a role within his desired field due to a lack of experience and perceived leadership skills.
Additionally, he felt his lack of a Prince2 qualification – a key requirement for would-be project managers – was holding him back.
How Fedcap helped
Stewart was supported in his quest to find a suitable role by our Employment Adviser Josette Bain. Together, the pair worked to enhance Stewart’s CV and identified potential employers, particularly those who may be open to hiring people with less experience.
But most significantly, Josette successfully applied for Fedcap funding to help pay for Stewart to enrol on a Prince2 course with the Knowledge Academy.
Getting the job
With the qualification ongoing, Stewart was able to demonstrate his commitment and impressed recruiters at a London firm where he has now started work as a Technical Project Manager.
Stewart was initially supported with his travel costs to and from his new London office and is currently receiving in-work support from our team as he looks to kick on in his chosen profession.
